Sky,
the oh-so-adorable Blue Heeler (Australian
Cattle Dog) pictured above, came to us on March
16, 2007. She is very shy but is quickly
learning to trust people and dogs alike. When
she walked in our door we thought her tail may
have been docked - it turns out it was just
securely tucked between her legs. After just
three days, her tail is wagging (circling,
actually - it's more of a propeller than a
pendulum), and she seems happy to see each of
her Camp Counselors, so we think she’s coming
out of her shell nicely!
We think
she's about 3 years old, but may be younger -
it's difficult to tell based on her teeth as she
has a severe overbite and looks like she may
never have had any of her front, bottom teeth
(so she can't chew on stuff like most pups do -
this means her top teeth are sharper than they
should be for a dog of her age, but not as
clean, so we're just guessing at her age).
She was
surrendered along with another dog (most likely
her mother) who has already been adopted. She
seems to like other dogs, but is very submissive
so she's just starting to play a bit at Camp. We
think she'll become more comfortable (and more
playful!) as time passes.
She’s had a
rough couple of weeks - being separated from her
doggy friend, being spayed, and being relocated
– but, in spite of it all, seems to be adjusting
nicely. All of her Camp Counselors think her big
personality shines right through her petite
frame and are really enjoying getting to know
her. We'll keep this page current, so visit
again for updated photos and information about
her progress.
If you'd
like to meet Sky, or would just like more
information
about this sweetheart, call or stop by today!
We
are fostering Sky for Every Creature Counts,
a no-kill animal sanctuary that also offers
low-cost spay and neuter services. For more
information on this phenomenal organization
or on the wonderful dogs and cats they have
available for adoption, visit their web site
at
www.everycreaturecounts.org.
Since we
opened in July of 2004, we’ve helped over 40
pups in their quest for forever families.
Thank you for your support in helping our
foster dogs to find loving, permanent homes!
