CAMP BOW WOW® SIGNS 200TH FRANCHISE!
Dec. 10, 2007, Boulder, CO. – Camp Bow Wow’s paw print just got bigger with the signing of its 200th franchise.
By late next year, lucky pups in Beaufort/Hilton Head, S.C. will be running with the pack at the nation’s Premiere Doggy Day and Overnight Camp®, where All Day Play® is the order of the day and nighttime brings cozy cots, campfire treats and soft classical music to lull the dogs to sleep.
A focus on fun and safety has helped Camp Bow Wow® grow from a lone Denver camp in 2000 to more than 52 open locations in 36 states and Canada, with more sites opening every month. The newest franchisee in Beaufort/Hilton Head expects to identify a site and open its doors sometime in the second half of 2008.
When founder, CEO and Top Dog Heidi Flammang opened that first Denver camp based on her own passion for dogs, she never dreamed her concept would grow beyond a few area locations. When she sold the first franchise three years later, she had begun to see Camp Bow Wow’s potential for growth.
“As we grow, it’s been great to see how many franchisees and their customers share that same passion,” Flammang said. “They’re building their new camps with the same simple premise as the first, truly making camp a place where a dog can be a dog.”
By last year, doggy daycare had grown into a $500 million business, as more consumers catered to their furry companions in new ways. In 2006, American pet parents spent about $38 billion on products and services for their canine kids.
All Camp Bow Wow locations are staffed with Certified Camp Counselors®, trained in Pet First Aid, Pet CPR and dog behavior. Camps boast one counselor for every 15 dogs, and dogs are separated into play groups based on their size and temperament. Little dogs and elderly pups have a lounge set aside just for them to retire to when the action gets to be too much.
Best of all for loving pet parents, all camps are equipped with Web-based Camper CamsSM, so customers can watch their furry loved ones romping from their home or work computers.
