Looking for loving fur-ever homes

Meet Our Current Foster Dogs Who Are Looking for Their Loving Fur-ever Homes in Golden

At Camp Bow Wow Golden, we believe every dog should have a loving fur-ever home. We work closely with local shelters and rescues to help with their adoption efforts, and often have foster dogs staying at Camp. These dogs get to play all day with other Campers, snooze the night away in individual Cabins, and get lots of love and attention from our Certified Camp Counselors®.

  • Izzy

    Age: Adult

    Breed: Boxer, Labrador Retriever
    Requirement: No cats

Personality: Izzy is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. She came to CCR from Houston TX and there is very little history on her. CCR has been told that she may be a boxer/lab mix, but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians. Izzy was adopted out as a puppy a year ago and was recently returned due to no fault of her own. It was a situation that the family was no longer able to care of Izzy. Izzy is around 16 months old and is a larger girl at 60 pounds. The one thing you will notice right off about Izzy is her personality plus! She has many facial expressions, loves to be the center of attention, talks to other dogs she wants to play with and wants every dog and person to be her friend. She has great enthusiasm for life and a love and the outdoors. Izzy does needs to be reminded that her manners need improving because she can be so zealous in her happiness. She will paw or kiss for attention. The pawing has become more gentle, but she can rush in from outside and jump on the couch before you have a chance to say "be calm". When taking a treat she needs to be told to be gentle and takes the treat nicely. Izzy is crate trained, would love to share your bed, but does ok in a crate. She is also potty trained. She loves her elk horn chews and is a great eater. She came to us with the beginning of skin allergies, which could be environmental or food but has been doing well on a grain-free diet. Izzy does not bark much when the other dogs get excited barking, nor does she bark at the door meeting strangers or when you come home. Izzy's energy is best suited for a home with a fenced yard for her to sun herself or explore. Izzy would love to have another playful dog companion as well as a family that can shower her with love and attention and take her on walks or hikes. Because of Izzy's zest for life (and associated rambunctiousness), we do not recommend that she go to a family with young children (under 10) or a home with cats.

Adoption Information: If you are interested in adopting Izzy, please submit an adoption application located on our website, We are asking for a $200 adoption donation for Izzy. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. In addition, most dogs listed as potty trained will experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home.
